Charles E. Young Research Library

Reading Room

Just inside the front entrance on the first floor, an expansive, glass-enclosed reading room spans the width of the building. This inviting space is designed to inspire and support research and study by graduate students and faculty.

Frequently used print reference materials are housed in stacks throughout the space. Less frequently used reference items are stored at the Southern Regional Library Facility and retrieved upon request. Electronic reference resources can be accessed at several public workstations as well as via the campus wireless network. The space offers seating at tables for up to six people or in comfortable lounge chairs. Tables have power outlets for laptops and other electronic devices.

Near the entrance to the room is a service desk staffed by reference librarians, who can answer quick reference questions and provide in-depth assistance with sophisticated research inquiries. A consultation area is also available for meetings with reference staff about group projects.
